Who we are

CULT COSMETICA ("we", "us", "our") operates a beauty studio at 828A Beaufort Street, Inglewood WA 6052 and an online store at cultcosmetica.com.au.

Our services include skin health evaluations and skin treatments, brow and lash treatments, facial waxing, and makeup application and lessons. We also sell skincare, makeup and fragrance online and in the studio.

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we perform skin and beauty treatments and hold health information about our clients, these obligations apply to us regardless of our turnover.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it.

The information we collect

When you shop with us online
Your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number, and the details of what you ordered. Payment card details are entered directly into our payment providers' systems — we never see or store your full card number.

When you book or attend a treatment
Your name, contact details, appointment history, and the notes your therapist records about your treatment.

Before certain treatments we ask you to complete a consultation form. This may include your skin concerns, medical conditions, medications, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, and previous treatments. This is health information and we treat it accordingly — see below.

When you contact us or sign up
Your name, email address, phone number and whatever you choose to tell us in a message, review or newsletter signup.

Automatically, when you use our website
Your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you viewed and how you arrived at our site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Health information

Health information is given extra protection under Australian privacy law, and we handle it on that basis.

We collect it only with your consent, and only what is necessary to deliver your treatment safely.
We use it to assess whether a treatment is suitable for you, to adapt it to your skin, and to keep a record of what was done.
We do not use health information for marketing.
We do not disclose it to anyone outside CULT COSMETICA without your consent, unless we are required to by law.
Access is limited to the therapists and staff who need it to treat you.

You can ask to see your treatment records at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the business:

Online store and hosting — Shopify
Payments — Shopify Payments and other payment providers, including PayPal and Afterpay where offered
Appointment booking and client records — Phorest
Appointment and marketing emails — Phorest and Mailchimp
Delivery — Australia Post and other couriers
Product reviews — Judge.me
Website analytics and advertising — Google and Meta

We may also disclose your information where we are required or authorised to by law.

Information sent overseas

Some of these providers store data outside Australia — Shopify in the United States and Canada, Phorest in Ireland and the European Union, and Google and Meta in the United States and elsewhere.

We take reasonable steps to ensure any overseas recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but by using our site and services you acknowledge that your information may be stored or processed outside Australia.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, and show you relevant advertising.

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site — the cart and checkout in particular — will not work properly without them.

CCTV in the studio

We operate closed-circuit television at 828A Beaufort Street for the safety of our clients and staff and for the security of the premises. Cameras cover public and working areas of the studio. They are not placed in treatment rooms, changing areas or bathrooms.

Footage is held securely, accessed only by authorised staff, and kept only as long as we need it before being overwritten in the ordinary course. We disclose footage only to the police or another authority where we are required or authorised to by law, or where it is necessary to investigate an incident.

You can ask whether footage of you exists and request access to it by emailing hello@cultcosmetica.com.au.

Marketing, and how to stop it

We will only send you marketing emails or messages if you have opted in, or if you are an existing customer and the marketing relates to what you bought.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also reply to any message, or email us at hello@cultcosmetica.com.au, and we will remove you.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages — order confirmations, delivery updates and appointment reminders.

How we keep it safe

We hold your information in secure, access-controlled systems, and we limit staff access to what each person needs to do their job. Our website uses encrypted connections.

No system is completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, and for as long as the law requires. Treatment and consultation records are kept for a minimum of seven years after your last appointment. Order records are kept for at least seven years to meet tax and consumer law obligations.

When we no longer need information, we destroy it or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date.

Children and young people

We treat clients under 18 across a range of services, including skin health evaluations and skin treatments, brow and lash treatments, facial waxing, and makeup application.

Where a client is under 18, we ask a parent or guardian to give consent before we collect their personal information or provide a service, and to be contactable during the appointment. Consent covers any health information recorded at consultation, such as skin conditions, medications and allergies.

A parent or guardian may request access to, or correction of, their child's information. We do not send marketing to anyone we know to be under 18.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:
