Top 3 Benefits of Exfoliation in Winter

Winter is the perfect time to start preparing your skin for the warmer months. The reduced sun and UV exposure provides ideal conditions for exfoliating facial treatments such as peels, epidermal levelling and even microneedling. Here are the top 3 benefits of exfoliation in winter.

Exfoliation is for all skin types

Despite what you may think, all skin types can benefit from exfoliation. Consideration needs to be taken towards individual skin sensitivities and whether you're pregnant (in relation to the active ingredients commonly found in peels such as retinol and salicylic acid). The exfoliation process is designed to remove skin cells and dirt that can clog pores and result in acne and congestion (blackheads) but it can also leave skin sensitive post-treatment.

1) Winter skin needs additional exfoliation

Cooler and harsher temperatures common in winter can exacerbate dry skin issues and therefore increase the need for exfoliation. In addition to at-home exfoliation, now is the perfect time to work in some in-clinic treatments, too. You can't go past our Liquid Exfoliants skin treatment which offer a diverse range of specialised Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Lactic, Mandalic and Salicylic solutions to deeply exfoliate and resurface your skin, promoting a refined and healthy complexion. You can also pair this with a non-invasive exfoliating treatment, such as Epidermal Leveling which incorporates a special type of blade that gently and thoroughly removes dead skin cells and villus facial hair.

2) Winter is the best time to tackle hyperpigmentation

As mentioned above, winter conditions create less sun exposure for your skin. This is critical for any exfoliation treatment as your skin will become highly sun-sensitive. Exposing your skin to harsh UV rays post-treatment can potentially impair the results of your treatment.

In winter, skin is often less tanned, providing your exfoliating treatment the optimal canvas to tackle any pigmentation. Our M-Pen Pro Skin Needling is the perfect treatment to visibly reduces the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines,
wrinkles, open pores and acne scarring.

3) Summer skin is made in winter!

Before you know it, summer will be here! And with that comes a more active social life, wedding season, and gorgeous sun-filled beach days. By embarking on your skin journey in winter, you are putting your skin in the best position to not only tolerate the often harsh Australian sun, but also help you put your best face forward with a healthy, glowing skin complexion.
